Spotlight on the Embraer E-Jet Family
Boasting twelve variants over four models, with capacity for 70-122 passengers in various configurations, the famed versatility of the Embraer’s E-Jet family (which comprises of the E170, E175, E190, and E195 models) means that there is a favourite relative for every occasion.
Launched by Embraer at the Paris Air Show in 1997, and marketed as “a regional jet with ‘the big jet’ feel”, the E-Jet family’s success has endured for over 20 years. Embraer’s success has led to the E-Jet family dominating the North American regional travel market, cementing the group as a stalwart of regional travel. Lauded by passengers the world over, the aircraft family’s two-by-two formation (guaranteeing either an aisle or window seat), ample room around the seat (thanks to Embraer eliminating the need for under-seat support rails), and its oversized windows for views of cascading cloudscapes all help to solidify Embraer E-Jet Family’s iconic status in the industry.
While these aeroplanes are marketed by Embraer themselves as both workhorses in the regional aviation industry, and exemplars in ‘performance, efficiency and economics’, there are many commercial uses where scheduled passenger transport needn’t be the main focus. The definition of duality, each E-Jet model and variation is powered by twin-jet engines, providing a two-to-three-hour range, boasts an impressive capability for landing on shorter runways (like London City Airport), and the ability to load baggage without hauling equipment, making it perfect for the simultaneous transportation of passengers and heavy or outsize cargo.
A favourite of our brokers here at ACS (and used regularly by every office worldwide), the E-Jet family are so universally versatile that they are used to fulfil a multitude of chartering needs. Our Commercial Jets division regularly arranges E-Jet charters for the transport of sports teams to fixtures, or even for an entire tournament’s worth of travel. With aircraft for as few as 70 passengers, and as many as 122, the E-Jet family are ideal for facilitating fly-in fly-out (FIFO) contracts on behalf of clients who operate in remote areas; this is particularly popular in charters for the mining industry in sparsely populated areas of Canada and Australia.
Comfort is a key selling point for the Embraer E-Jet family – our clients regularly charter these models for incentive trips, tour groups, and a plethora of further business functions, frequently remarking on the exceptional level of comfort on board. The E-Jets’ unique ‘double-bubble’ cabin/hold formation means more room in both the cabin and the hold, and greater headroom for passengers, this, along with the spacious seat size and formation means that your clients or employees are as comfortable and relaxed as they possibly can be on board.
With Embraer delivering their 1800th E-Jet, and with updated versions of the iconic, and market-leading jets (the E-Jet E2 family) introduced in 2018, we can be sure that these behemoths of the wide blue yonder won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
