About this aircraft

• Introduced in 2014 and delivered in 2016, the Dassault Falcon 8X is a derivative of the popular Falcon 7X.
• Aerodynamic refinements and increased fuel capacity give the Falcon 8X a greater range than the Falcon 7X. Its cabin is also 3.5 feet longer.
• The Falcon 8X is typically configured for 14 passengers. Two further passengers can use the enclosed lavatory and crew seat if needed.
• The sizable hold of a Falcon 8X can fit around 20 items of luggage, meaning each passenger can take at least one suitcase.
• The Falcon 8X’s 6,450 nautical mile range means it can fly nonstop between Beijing and New York, Singapore and London, or São Paulo and Paris.

Powered by three rear-mounted turbofans, the Falcon 8X can fly faster than most of its competitors, take off from shorter runways and maintain a slow and stable approach speed. This means it can access London City and hundreds of other airports that were previously unavailable to aircraft of this size.

Interior design

There’s a choice of up to 30 different layouts in the Falcon 8X’s soundproofed cabin. Most feature 14 seats spread across three zones, while a high-density configuration seats up to 15 passengers. Like the 7X, there’s usually a four-seat club at the front followed by a four-seat conference/dining area in the middle and one or more divans at the rear, which can be combined to create a large lie-flat double bed.

A modern galley at the front is large enough to prepare hot and cold refreshments, while an enclosed rear lavatory provides an entrance to more internal storage. To optimise passenger comfort and reduce jet lag after the flight, the Falcon 8X maintains a cabin altitude of 3,900 feet, with a maximum ceiling altitude of 51,000 feet.

Interesting facts to learn before you fly

• The rear zone of the aircraft can be transformed to house a wide double bed. Depending on the configuration, up to six people can sleep onboard on lie-flat beds.

Technological features

Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307D turbofan engines power the Dassault Falcon 8X, each offering 6,722 pounds of thrust and burning 347 gallons of fuel per hour.

The cockpit boasts EASy III integrated avionics, developed with Honeywell and incorporated into their Primus Epic platform for a system that’s more intuitive, interactive and adaptable to pilots' needs. Features include a wide-screen head-up display (HUD) with synthetic and enhanced vision and optional dual HUD capability. The EASy flight deck is primarily controlled using Dassault’s cursor control device, a trackball controller with pull-down and pop-up menus to enable more head-up time during a flight.

Passengers can stay connected in all phases of flight with the FalconCabin HD+ cabin management system providing Wi-Fi throughout the cabin.

History

The Dassault Falcon 8X is an upgrade of the 7X. The cabin is 3.5 feet longer and an improved wing design has more moving control surfaces, including three leading-edge slats, three airbrakes and two flaps. Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307D turbofan engines deliver 5% more thrust, lower fuel consumption and reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

The 8X remains Dassault’s highest-performing flagship aircraft. This will change when the 6X is delivered, which boasts an even larger cabin and a more modern interior.

Manufacturer

Dassault Aviation’s history dates back to the dawn of aviation. Marcel Bloch (later known as Marcel Dassault) founded the company following a childhood fascination with aesthetics and innovation and it went on to become one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers.

Following the oil shock of 1973-74 and the Iranian crisis in 1979, the global economy felt the impact of rising raw material prices. Dassault bolstered its fundamentals by developing exports of civil and military aircraft against a backdrop of increasingly fierce international competition. Today, the brand holds a special place in the industry as the only global aerospace company still owned by its founding family.
