Pulkovo Airport is the main airport serving St Petersburg, and operates 24 hours a day. It is an international commercial airport with two runways. A brand new terminal opened in 2013, resulting in the two older terminals closing permanently. The new terminal features an array of chain restaurants and shops and state of the art infrastructure designed to make the airport more efficient and increase passenger numbers. The new terminal also features brand new VIP facilities, including a business lounge and VIP lounge. The airport is predominately used for scheduled passenger services – however a handful of cargo carriers operate flights from Pulkovo airport too. The airport is the ideal gateway into Russia for football fans looking to travel the Saint Petersburg Stadium just 31 kilometres from the airport. As with most Russian airports, slots at Pulkovo are restricted, however ground crews do speak English.
